The Vicariate of Catholic Faith Formation & Education of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany has announced that the theme of Spring Enrichment 2018 is "Companions along the journey". Thus, as the diocese gathers for its 45th annual Spring Enrichment days, Wednesday, May 16 - Friday, May 18, it will be celebrating the men and women who accompany us on our faith journeys through life.
Members of the organizing committee, consisting of diocesan staff and representatives from both the parish catechetical and Catholic school communities, were excited with the new theme and saw possibilities to recall the past, live the present and look forward to the future as we celebrate this milestone anniversary for Spring Enrichment.
Interestingly enough, with the Diocese to hold its first Eucharistic Congress next September (2018), the Spring Enrichment theme also has an Eucharistic dimension. The word "companion" comes from two Latin words, com meaning "with" and pan meaning "bread". Consider how we gather together with fellow companions along the journey when we share the bread that has become the Body of Christ at the Eucharistic Liturgy.
The committee also decided to resurrect a special teen program - to be expanded to include young adults - that last made an appearance at the 46th Spring Enrichment in 2009. Details on this conference within a conference will be made available at a later date.
