Teenagers and young adults are part of the Church of today. As son as you are baptized, you are part of the Body of Christ, the Church. Last April, Pope Francis was speaking to a group of teens and young adults in Italy. He said what is needed are young people who walk, who go out into the street and "move forward, besides others, looking toward the future." Like Mary, "the world today needs young people that go in haste who don't get tired... who have the vocation of feeling that for them, life offers a mission." He told them that "you must prepare the future, the future is in your hands" and invited them to begin the journey without fear or shame, but with courage.
Come, BE THE CHURCH NOW.
Adults from throughout the Albany Diocese have gathered each May or June for its Spring Enrichment days. Now in its forty-fifth year, Spring Enrichment is a three day faith formation and ministry program drawing between 800-1,000 people. Teens and young adults (15-35 years old) from across the diocese are especially invited to join us at Spring Enrichment on Thursday, May 17 for a special program of activities, workshops and speakers focused on them, including a presentation by Chris Padgett and blessing by Bishop Ed and a coffeehouse hour at Albany's College of Saint Rose.
Upon arriving at the campus all participants are to check in at the Spring Enrichment registration area (in the "atrium" entryway of the Campus Events & Athletics Center (420 Western Ave). Teens and young adults will be our guests and adults accompanying them or planning on attending the Be the Church Now sessions only (4-9pm) will pay $12. The program includes pizza for dinner and some freebies. In addition to the sessions described on this page and the Be the Church Now materials, registrants for Be the Church Now may also register for and attend any of the other sessions being offered at Spring Enrichment from 4-9pm at no additional charge.
Completed registration forms are due back to the Diocesan Catholic School Office by May 9. All teens attending Be the Church now must agree to the Code of Conduct and be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone (see chaperone guidelines). For more information, or if you have any questions, contact the CSO at 518-453-6602.
